Engineering-Driven Design
With a background in engineering design, I bring a disciplined, problem-solving approach to every project. From concept sketches to production-ready models, I work in ViaCAD 2D/3D Pro — a professional-grade CAD platform that allows me to develop complex geometries, precise tolerances, and intricate assemblies efficiently. Whether it's a functional enclosure, a custom bracket, or a multi-part mechanism, every design is built with manufacturability and real-world performance in mind.
This isn't hobbyist tinkering — it's methodical design work informed by years of engineering experience.
Print Platform
All parts are produced on a Bambu Lab A1 Mini equipped with the AMS Lite multi-material system, enabling automated filament switching for multi-color and multi-material prints.
Build Volume: 180 × 180 × 180 mm (7.1 × 7.1 × 7.1 in)
This compact, high-speed platform was chosen deliberately — it's reliable, self-contained, and perfectly suited to life aboard our sailing catamaran. That means designs move from screen to finished part wherever we happen to be, whether docked in a marina or anchored in a remote bay.
No waiting on a shop back home, no delays — just direct, on-demand manufacturing from anywhere in the world.
Materials
I print with a curated selection of engineering-grade thermoplastics, each chosen for specific performance characteristics:
| Material | Strength | Flexibility | Heat Resistance | UV & Weather |
Best For
|
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| PETG | ★★★ | ★★ | ★★★ ~70℃ |
★★★★ | The workhorse — tough, easy to print, and highly resistant to moisture and UV exposure. Ideal for marine hardware, outdoor enclosures, and any part that lives in sun, salt, or spray. |
| PETG-CF | ★★★★ | ★ | ★★★ ~75℃ |
★★★★ | Carbon-fiber reinforced PETG for maximum rigidity with minimal weight. Perfect for structural brackets, stiff panels, and parts that need to hold form under load — with the same excellent weatherability as standard PETG. |
| PET-CF17 (Fiberon) | ★★★★ | ★ | ★★★★ ~80℃ or 147℃ with annealing |
★★★★ | A high-performance PET base loaded with 17% carbon fiber. Exceptionally stiff and dimensionally stable, with superior heat resistance over PETG variants. Built for demanding structural applications, tooling, and parts requiring minimal flex or creep under sustained load. |
| TPU | ★★ | ★★★★ | ★★ ~70℃ ~100℃ as a seal |
★★★ | Gaskets, grips, bumpers, vibration dampeners — anywhere flexibility and impact absorption are needed. Excellent for seals, buttons and soft-touch interfaces. |
| Others | Varies | Have a special need? Reach out and we can discuss other materials that may be available to suit your specific asthetic or design needs. | |||
Note: Material selection is part of the design process. I'll recommend the right material for your application based on the mechanical, thermal, and environmental demands of your part.
What This Means for You
